With 6 years as a practicing attorney, 25 years as a law librarian, and 19 years as an indexer, I have the experience and background to understand your project and provide the kind of index your readers expect. My legal indexing includes deskbooks, treatises, practice guides, textbooks, statutes, newsletters, and general audience legal books. I’ve been an officer of the ASI Legal Indexing Special Interest Group from inception in 2006 until 2011, and 2016-present, and I've also been active in my regional indexing chapter for many years. In addition to legal indexing, I also index social sciences, teaching, business, and other topics. Please let me know how I can help you with your project.

I am an advanced professional member of the Society of Indexers in the UK. My indexing work is informed by extensive past experience of both legal practice and academic publishing. I am a former Scottish solicitor with ten years’ post-qualifying experience, including at partner level, working in corporate and commercial law in Scotland and London. Thereafter I spent seven years with sole commissioning responsibility for the law list at Palgrave Macmillan, publishing a range of prominent legal textbooks and the award-winning Socio-Legal Studies series. I prepare indexes in most areas of law, and across many different jurisdictions. I am also happy to compile legal tables for works on English, Scottish, international and EU law.

I have a degree in Japanese and International Affairs from CU Boulder and a JD from the University of Denver College of Law. I have been an estate planning and probate attorney for 20 years. I also have experience in special needs planning, elder law, real estate law and family law. In semi-retiring from the law, I am now indexing books. In addition to law-related materials, my indexing interests include geriatrics/aging, history, Asian studies and biographies. I was trained as an indexer by the American Society of Indexing (ASI). I am a member of ASI, Legal Indexing Special Interest Group and the Rocky Mountain Chapter. In addition to indexing, I work at my local library. This, plus my legal background, make me well-aware of how people utilize indexes. Please contact me to discuss how I can add value to your publication with a quality, affordable index.
